Unwanted Hair Removal for Men
The methods for hair removal range from shaving to tweezing to waxing, but it takes a bit of experimenting to realize which is best suited for individuals.
Face Fuzz problems
- Most men are content with the time-honored method of removing facial hair, which is shaving; this morning (or evening, for some) ritual requires basic hand coordination and equipment for shaving extends to a quality razor, blades/electric razor, shaving cream, moisturizer and warm water. Grooming experts recommend that men should wet the facial hair with warm water and then proceed with slow, short strokes of the razor in the direction of hair growth for the best results
- Men with a love for beards or mustaches may invest in a trimmer to keep these prized possessions in ship-shape, or for keeping unwanted ear or nostril hair in control
- For excessive, overgrown or stray eyebrow hair, tweezing or waxing are the preferred methods and fast too. A handy hint is to keep a little ice nearby and rub along the plucked/waxed area to minimize swelling or redness. A good moisturizer afterwards helps refresh and hydrate the skin after unwanted hair removal for men
Waxing and Waning methods
Swimmers, bodybuilders and public figures often prefer to remove body hair before a public appearance or event while other regular guys too like the option of keeping their backs, legs and chests hairless. Waxing is popular as it keeps unwanted hair away longer than other methods. A home-use waxing kit, with full instructions or the convenience offered at grooming salons by professionals is options for waxing. For home-wax users, men are warned: the wax needs to be properly heated, but not too hot and a small area needs to be tested for allergic reactions first.
- Waxing strips must be dry and care taken to always pull against the direction of hair growth
- Irritated, chapped or sunburned skin/skin with cuts must never be waxed until it heals
- Waxing should be avoided for areas that have moles/warts
- Diabetic men or those suffering circulation problems should look for alternative methods of unwanted hair removal as waxing is not advisable for them
Special Laser treatments, Bleaching, Epilators and Depilatory creams
- Laser treatments for unwanted hair removal for men is an expensive though very effective option and the most long lasting of all methods
- Bleaching is another alternative for unwanted hair removal and effects usually last about two or three weeks. This method uses creams and powders that lighten the hair closer to skin tone, making body hair less visible
- Depilatory Creams/lotions smooth and moisturize the skin after removing hair and are easy to use and not painful as waxing or laser treatments. The effects last about a week
- Epilators yank out the hair from the roots but may be painful for those with sensitive skin, though the results last 6 weeks or so
